Work Resumes On Meridian Quay

Published on 07-07-2009 by Skyscrapernews.com
Work has gotten into full swing again following the resolution of the will they/won't they continue building it dispute that saw Carillion Construction drop tools and threaten to walk away from constructing Wales tallest building.

Carillion Construction had pulled out of building Meridian Quay, a 107 metre tall largely residential tower, after they fell out with the developer Earthquake over money.

The contractor had their workers leave the site on Ferrara Quay in April and it was not until the end of dune that the disagreement between the parties over payment was finally resolved having led to a delay of two months.

The Latitude Architects designed tower is now expected to be completed nine or ten months late with the completion of the 123 apartments in the building set for later in the summer, and the top-floor restaurant scheduled to open in November or December of this year just in time to offer diners of the festive season striking views over Swansea Bay and beyond.

Once completed, Meridian Quay will be the tallest building in Wales, a title currently held by the 80 metre tall Capital Tower in Cardiff.
